The course costs £50 (many other clubs charge £100!) and runs over 6 weeks. Attendance on the course will entitle you to half-price subscriptions for the following 6 months, should you decide to join the club as a full member after gaining your new skills.
We will teach you how to scull (and then row) in that time and hopefully develop your skill levels enough to enable you to achieve and experience sculling smoothly and quickly in a fine single racing boat on your own. Much of the coaching will be one-to-one.
At Erith Rowing Club we can cater for all levels of initial fitness and you can row/scull at a social level or compete for the club in competition – it’s up to you.
Courses are open to all abilities aged 14 and over
Please note places will be limited so book early to secure yours.
Requirements
You need to be a competent swimmer in the unlikely event that you fall in.
You will need to wear suitable gym type clothing that will allow you to move easily – layers are best when the weather is chilly.
No jeans & no tops with side opening pockets or the loose, hand warmer type pockets at the front. You will just catch your thumbs in them and upset your stroke.
In the boat, cheap plimsolls or warm socks will be more suitable than chunky running trainers.
Please bring a change of clothes and some liquid refreshment.
