Any person wishing to join the Club
must complete an application form, pay the agreed subscription for the
class of membership desired and confirm that they are proficient swimmers.
They may be asked to undertake a swimming test. The General Committee will
consider all applications at its meeting following the display of the
application forms on the Club notice board for at least 48 hours following
the application being made. The General Committee may refuse membership
for good cause such as conduct or character likely to bring the Club or
sport into disrepute. Appeal against such refusal may be made to the
members in accordance with Rule 7.b.viii.
Membership may be also be
refused if the Club’s existing membership is of such a size that there are
insufficient facilities to cater for any further members. If it is
necessary to refuse membership for this reason applicants will be offered
the opportunity to be placed on a waiting list. Vacancies, as they occur,
will be offered to those persons on the waiting list in the order that
they joined it.
Prospective members will be allowed 2 free training sessions whether water
sessions or land sessions or one of each.
|
Thereafter they will be required
to pay a Session Training Fee (as determined by the Annual General Meeting
each year), currently £3, for each session undertaken whether on land or water for no
longer than a further month.
At the end of this time they must have
completed an Application Form and Standing Order Instruction or paid the
appropriate Subscription. Failure to do so will result in the withdrawal
of access to the Cub’s equipment. Payment of the Session Training fee does
not entitle prospective members to any of the rights and privileges of
membership save the use of the necessary equipment.
Only members
aged 16 and above not in arrears by more than 1 month may vote at General
Meetings and be elected to an official position in the Club.
The Club will ensure that the
talents and resources of all members are utilised to the full and that no
member receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of sex, handicap,
marital status, creed, social class, colour, ethnic group, race, age or
sexual orientation or is disadvantaged by conditions or requirements which
cannot be shown to be relevant to performance.
